REPORTS
PRO BONO CLE-Ken Shear reported on a proposal submitted by the Philadelphia Bar Association to the PA Continuing Legal Education Board to permit lawyers to earn up to three (3) hour of their 12 hours of CLE by volunteering for pro bono work. For every six (6) hours of pro bono service, an attorney would receive one hour of credit. The Philadelphia Bar Association has forwarded the proposal to the Pennsylvania Bar Institute asking for their support. A handout was distributed to those in attendance which listed the recommendations of the proposal. Ken explained the proposal was a pilot project for three years whose purpose was to help address the unmet need for legal representation. Discussion followed on the pros and cons of the program. Roger Meilton reported that the PBI Board had studied the proposal but did not support it. Ken Shear requested that members of the PABE review the proposal.
