Minutes of the Meeting of April 27, 2004
Attendance: Members present were:

Reviewed Attorneys First Program
Reviewed Merchant Service for credit card transactions, which allows for credit card payments online.
Option for attorneys to split deposits to different accounts (IOLTA).
Discussion on whether fee is associated with online feature.
Offered to present credit car transaction program to bar associations in form of breakfast or luncheon.
Also offered to work with bar associations to help on other projects.

President Paul offered her thanks to Liz Price and Sandy Brydon-Smith for working on speakers and other specifics for this retreat. All agreed this was a beneficial retreat with good topics and plenty of opportunity to discuss issues of concern with local bars.
TREASURERS REPORT
Balance in accounts: $12,412.89 including 2 CDs held at Citizens Bank
MEMBERSHIP
Discussed offering associate membership to Citizens Bank and Colburn.
Agreed that law-related organizations including DAs association, Pa defense institute, WPaTL, Hispanic Bar might be worth considering.
Some expressed desire to keep membership to executives of associations.
No action taken.

Pat Martin working on development of website.
Liz Price has history and logo in draft form.
NEXT MEETING
May 13th next meeting LCL flier will be distributed via email. Suggested topics to be covered:
How to identify attorneys in trouble and what resources. Establishing LCL contact. Basics of LCL. How to best help attorneys at risk.
STEPPING OUT
Art Birdsall had reported that the PBA Stepping Out book needs updated.
Sandy Brydon-Smith agreed to share her information with PBA.
Agreed not to undertake as PABE project.
Discussed possible changing the name of book so that it could be used beyond high school Stepping Out programs.
Nancy Paul reported that Montgomery County has recently written and published a booklet on Criminal Law issues and she indicated that she could email it to anyone interested in this kind of information.
Both Liz Price and Sandy Brydon-Smith reported that their bar associations have recently updated the seniors and the Law book if anyone is interested in taking a look at this book.
CLE
Hardship CLE policy is a requirement for all CLE providers.
Installment plans are accepted by some CLE providers.
Nancy Paul will post Dauphin Countys CLE hardship policy on listserve.
Homebound attorneys can view tapes in lieu of attending CLE.
Business Meeting adjourned at 9:40 am.

PTOs in lieu of vacation and sick days,
annual reviews,
Employment contracts.
Agreed to have Personnel Issues as topic for Fall PABE meeting.
Discussed bringing pamphlets and sample invitations to next meeting for sharing
Job descriptions for board members - Diane has and can share via email.
Leadership training for YL Jean has done this program, which is in binder format.
